Alice & Friends at The Glen was recently featured on episode 6 of Kale Krew on Unchained TV. Kale Krew is a new Chicago-based vegan food series, hosted by Kale My Name restaurant owner Nemanja Golubovic and social media personality Tamika Price.
The duo visits a vegan restaurant from Chicago in each episode and shares their ‘tantalizing adventures’. In some cases, they venture to the kitchen to get a behind the scenes experience. The part that we love the most is that they take the time to taste and highlight some of the menu items that are unique to the restaurant.
And even though the food series was only started a few months ago, the Kale Krew is already having amazing support. Their episodes have been posted on the Featured Category of Unchained TV almost every week!
We’re excited for them but NOT surprised. Both hosts are the nicest we’ve ever worked with and bring a je ne sais quoi energy that is contagious. They’re not only supportive but they made sure we knew what to expect before filming.
“I am camera shy and initially, did not want to be in front of the camera. They were so encouraging and helped me to make it more comfortable.” _ Mun Wong, Alice & Friends Owner
And just like that, with their encouragement and a little bit of humor, we shared a great experience.
A few days after their visit and while we were watching the final video, we also got curious about Unchained TV. This was the first time we heard about this website. And guess what? It does not disappoint with how innovative their content is. After reviewing dozens of titles to video content, we wondered how we didn’t hear about it when it was first created back in 2021!
And since we’re often looking for resources for the vegan community, we want to share with you what we learned so far.
What is Unchained TV?
Unchained TV is a free streaming video network that promotes thousands of documentaries, talk shows, cooking shows, protests, events and music videos centered around the plant-based lifestyle.
Initially, we watched many videos from food and recipes because, of course, we’re always open to trying new dishes and desserts. However, we kept going back to their TV and Film section.
Unchained TV has the most comprehensive and unpretentious “library” of videos.
Their film documentaries include Harambe, Black Fish, and Pig Little lies. These are all reminders of why we continue to advocate for “all living things and our desire to make as little impact as possible on our ecosystem.”
Additionally, the content is created by different independent groups and organizations from around the world. This means that it’s highly possible to find a new organization, cause, or movement. This is a great opportunity to stay informed and involved.
How is Unchained TV Different from Vegan YouTube Channels?
Vegan YouTube channels are great resources but their content is usually limited to a topic. The founder of Unchained TV, Jane Velez Mitchell, created this platform as a free resource. The website streams original content for the plant-based community.
The content is valuable because viewers can stream hundreds of videos for free on one single platform.
What Content Did We Watch Last?
We have been following and listening to their video podcast that releases new episodes every Monday. The latest episode Why Chicagoland is America’s New Vegan Mecca! released on July 31st is available to view now.
The host and founder, Jane Velez, discusses topics of travel, animal rights, and fashion. She often invites vegan leaders and friends to take an active part in these dialogues.
